Communications – Finding Common Ground

In communication, only one thing stands between you and success. It isn’t experience, nor talent. If you want to succeed, you must learn how to connect with people by finding common ground. Some people are simply excellent communicators while others aren’t, truth is anyone can learn how to make every communication an opportunity for a powerful connection. People have different representational systems based on the five senses, which provide the primary basis for their thoughts and emotions.

Most people think that finding common ground with others requires talent or skills, that’s simply not true. I believe not everyone starts out with the same ability to connect. I also believe everyone can learn to connect because connecting is a choice… it’s a mind-set that you can learn #activelistening

To communicate more effectively, you must find common ground with others. This rule applies whether you are resolving conflict with your spouse, children, friends’ co-workers, selling products are negating a deal. It’s difficult to find common ground with others when the only person you’re focused on is yourself. #effectivecommunication

When you realize that connecting is all about others, that’s when you become more people focused rather than self-focused. I believe when you understand yourself, you will understand others better. However, to grow, you must work at understanding others. If you can learn how others see the world and really try to experience the same world they do, it will amaze you how effective your communication and connections will become. People who connect are always looking for common ground. #findingcommonground
