The Art of Simplicity

Albert Einstein says, “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it enough.”

The KISS principle works best if thing are simple rather than made complicated; therefore, simplicity should be a key goal, and we should avoid unnecessary complexity. Simplicity is the state being simple. Something easy to understand As a leader, simplicity is always best because, when focusing on simplicity, your creative work becomes easier to understand, easier to recognize, easier to use. A simple life gives you freedom from issues in life that should not really be of major concern. Simplicity is all about focusing on what’s most important and letting go of the rest.

Communicators take something complicated and make it simple. As communicators, our job is to bring clarity to a subject, not complexity. It doesn’t take nearly as much skill to identify a problem as it is to find a suitable solution

The measure of an excellent communicator isn’t what they know, it’s about what others know. Keeping things simple is a skill, and a necessary one, if you want to connect with people when you communicate, you must master the art of simplicity. It’s really a simple concept, however, it’s difficult to do. Here are a few tips on how to become a better communicator.

Say it clearly so they will not misunderstand it. You must see things clearly in your mind before you can say it clearly with your mouth. Anyone who can’t articulate an idea well, that’s a sign they don’t have a good enough understanding of it. This is clear when an insecure or non-informed communicator is in a position of authority speaks. Insecure communicators create complexity. Frightened, nervous communicators use thick, convoluted planning books and slides filled with everything they knew since childhood #ClearCommunication.

Talk to people, not above them- Be aware of the person you’re talking to. Talking above someone means speaking about things that someone cannot understand. Sometimes people feel like leaders convey complex ideas without attempting to make them clear. Life is all about making connections, which means being comfortable with social situations, whether you prefer talking or listening.

Say less- Less is more means having just having enough information to accomplish the goal rather than having way too much of superfluous information that confuses everyone even more. When you speak, fewer people will remember what you said better and longer. You can’t go wrong by keeping things short when you communicate.

Bottom line, we expect you to add value to everyone, and you can do that with a few words. People will not be persuaded by what we say, but by the way they understand. Any time you communicate, whether to one person or many, always try to keep it simple. When you speak simply and clearly, more people can understand what you are trying to communicate #EffectiveCommunication.
